How We Help

Life-Changing Services

You have saved yourself; you have built yourself back up; you are changing your life for good. You are breaking the cycle of violence, independent, and living free from abuse! We will work to empower you until all of those things are true. “What now?” is a question we can help you answer through our Life-Changing Services. All of our services are free and confidential.

Common Ground Program

Common Ground is an opportunity for Merryman House clients to work at the Merryman House, part-time, for a short period of time. Run through Cornerstone of Hope, clients learn skills vital to common jobs they could apply for in the community, such as administrative work, kitchen or line cook skills, maintenance work and more. Each position is a coaching opportunity between staff and clients that oftentimes end in skills learned and a letter of reference for the client to use in real world applications.

Ongoing Case Management

Victims of domestic violence stay in abusive relationships due to a variety of barriers, such as child custody concerns, legal issues, financial instability, physical and emotional health issues, lack of housing, safety concerns, and more. Merryman House offers ongoing, comprehensive case management services that remove barriers and help you set goals and find resources until you achieve stable independence. We desire to spark change—to be obstacle removers.

Housing Stabilization

Many trauma survivors find help and healing at the Merryman House, but they can’t stay here forever. Our staff provides various services to help them secure safe homes where they can begin new lives. Advocates and counselors search for housing that fits the specific needs of each client. They help with rental applications if necessary. We can even help clients locate furniture and develop plans to ensure the safety of their families in the wake of abuse.

Housing Case Management

The Merryman House doesn’t just help clients find new homes. Our capable staff helps monitor their housing situations, as well, to make sure those situations remain secure. We help locate resources that pertain to housing and offer services such as landlord intervention, housing inspections, and budgeting assistance. We also go over lease agreements with clients to make sure they understand the terms, and we help them file Fair Housing claims as needed. Merryman House provides education on topics such as rental assistance, mortgages, homelessness assistance, and delinquency and default. We believe knowledge is power!
